Tuesday, January 2nd around 11:00 am Stayner Missionary was reported to 911 as being on fire. When fire crews arrived the sanctuary was burning and there was no access through the roof because of a hot fire under the steel roof. There was no option but to let it burn. The rest of the church is not salvageable because of water damages. The fire originated in the old kitchen of the church but the cause has not yet been determined. Demolition of the church is already underway as it has been deemed an unsound structure in the downtown core.
